Holiday Work

Be your obssession for the day.

Spend one whole day obssessing over your obssession. From the moment you wake up until you go to sleep, eat, drink, think your obssession. Document your thoughts and your actions for the day, keep a journal, post on your blog, track your movements through photography. If you're obsession is music related, spend the day with that music as your soundtrack. Document how you feel, how other people react to you. Plan in advance if you need to go visit things/places or people.

You should create at least 4 pages in your sketchbook from this day plus blog entries.

On top of this, you need to blog twice a week.

Pentagram

Pentagram design studio was created in 1972 by a number of designers including Alan Fletcher. The idea for the studio was to bring together a collective of designers who worked as equals. The design studio now has offices all over the world and produces work for multinational companies such as Tescos. They also however stay true to design ans work with smaller clients. Their work is not confined just print and they work on varied and interesting projects.

This weeks work.

Okay, time to leave the computer for a couple of weeks (in lessons at least - i'm still expecting 2-3 blog entries a week). You will need to create your first art history page in your sketch book today. This should include 2-3 pictures, one artist copy (using a range of techniques) and then your own artwork using the techniques that you have learned. Your own artwork should be based on your theme - your moodboard should help you here.

You can post your sketchbook pages on your blog and talk about your ideas behind the page. Remember the layout of your sketchbook is vital, be creative and think design in everything that you do.

This task will take place over this week and next.

Douglas Wilson

Using the traditional method of letterpress printing on printed ephemera, Douglas Wilson creates bold illustrated statements. His collection of vintage maps printed with the words GET LOST creates a strong, playful link between imagery and text.

Douglas Wilson is also responsible for Linotype: The Film. well worth a watch (especially Jack - studying typography).
