Welcome

Welcome to your year 13 assignment. Your project title will be Passions and Obsessions and you will have until February 2012 to complete the project. The outcome of your project is for you to decide. There is the expectation that your final piece will reflect the 9 months that you have to work on this project, 9 months will feel like a long long time if you don't choose something that interests you to study. So think carefully and try and avoid the cliches.

You will start your project with a blog of your own, you will create and design your blog to relect you and your project. The expectation is for you to use this space as a visual and written diary, you will search for inspiration and comment on it here, you will write about your ideas and the struggles you will have. You will be able to upload photos and videos....use the media at you fingertips. If you see something inspiring whilst you are out and only have your mobile phone with you, then use it, upload it and comment on it.

You will be expected to learn to browse the internet, succesfully finding the work of deigners and artists to inspire your own work. You can dedicate a post to them, you can add them to your list of links (useful for you to be able to find things you like 5 months down the line). What ever you do, if you use a photograph from someones website, you MUST credit it. That means that under the photograph you must add the name of the photographer and the website that you found it. Link to it, and send your own link to the site that you found it from, they will love to hear how you are inspired by them.

Your blog will be a major part of your assessment, I will expect you to create a series of sketchbook pages that will evolve from your posts.

I will be following your blogs and will, when I feel I need to, make comments on your posts. Don't worry though, that doesn't mean that I will be giving you any negative comments...I may question you now and again though, just to make you think harder. I also expect you to follow this blog as it will be where I can communicate with you en mass on the days that I am not in school.

I hope you enjoy this way of working, I don't expect you to comment everyday. But I do expect every week, at least.
